About Us
Yarns of Yore is a grassroots initiative aligned with the Prime Minister's Vibrant Villages Programme, supported by the Indian Army. Rooted in the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand, it revives the fading art of weaving in Malla and Niti Valley, and handlooms across the region, engaging 25 women from remote Himalayan communities to foster economic independence and preserve regional identity.
"More than a startup, Yarns of Yore is a revival of legacy, pride, and craftsmanship—strengthening remote Himalayan communities through culture and creativity."
Vision
- To elevate Yarns of Yore into a nationally recognised movement that highlights the timeless artistry and resilience of tribal weavers from Garhwal and Kumaon.
- To showcase their products from the scenic ranges of Uttarakhand on national and global platforms.
- Gain recognition for the unparalleled craftsmanship, skill, and dedication of women artisans.
Mission
- Yarns of Yore empowers women in remote Uttarakhand villages by reviving traditional weaving and spinning.
- We foster economic independence, preserve cultural heritage.
- We blend heritage craft with eco-friendly innovation to create sustainable livelihoods and amplify the voices of tribal India.
